My starting point
I will add content here on an ongoing basis, now I have just started with setting up hosting, so feel free to read about free hosting
What should a webpage look like?
As my personal webpage I want it to look nice to me. I mean, why should I make something about me which does not correspond to what I like, right? And as I prefer UI of simplicity, it seems that a simple webpage should do the trick. Maybe I will make it more look like a terminal in future.
A password manager?
Well, everyone should have some type of password manager, but the question is which password manager does fit the individual needs and their ideologies.
For me, I was looking for an open-sourced password manager, which does not need to have option for a synchronisation, it is sufficient for me to just export to a file and then have a backup of the file if I need it.
Based on this, I have got to the point where I was looking into ProtonPass and BitWarden.
Both seemed like a good option, as they are open sourced, they are from a trusted company, and they do have application for phone. So to decide which of them I will use as my primary place for storing login credentials was difficult. The decision came when I found that protonPass do not allow to export the vault from their application - a person needs to go into browser or to a Windows app to be able to do it. and based on this the BitWarden turned out to be a better solution. It also allows for future to self host the password server and use it that way.

Open places on internet
Open sourc and federated software gives all people the same options. And the best thing is that those projects are usually driven by comunity, which means things which are useful for users are done. Not those which are for the sole business benefit. There are lot of dark tactics in most of the "well known" companies. Be it facebook, which makes you adicted and scammed. Or Google which gives you free stuff but just so that they can earn more money. Or Apple, which locks you down, so people support them even when their solution is far from competitive.
For this reason I made this table for alternatives which are accesible (free) but very much accepts donations.
| project | Cloud storage | Open translate | Collaborative office | Git | Search | Calls | Chat | Social media | Share files | Jurisdiciton | My notes | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disroot - disroot.org | Round cube | Y 3.5GB | Y | Nextcloud Cryptpad etherpad | Forgero | Searxng | Jitsi | XMPP | Akkoma Lemmy | PrivateBin Lufi | Netherlands | more storage can be purchased. Custom domain is also available for email |

All the above is based on my knowledge and not all the things have been tested by me. If you know somehting which I don't, just contact me.
If you are wondering if this is exhastive list, it is not. I have listed just those few which I come upon. If you want to explore others, I can suggest you to check some project which is "most have" for you or supports your opinions and them try to find list of open instances. This is actually how I created this table - I was looking into mastodon matrix and cryptpad instnce list and checking which of them fit my preferences (this even allows you to go as deep as your prefered juristiction).
